Steve Jobs explored several spiritual paths in his younger years and became closely associated with Zen Buddhism. In a published interview preserved by the Steve Jobs Archive, he spoke about Buddhism and said he did not go to church every Sunday.
Is Steve Jobs a Christian?
The evidence does not support calling Jobs a Christian. His public spiritual life was more closely tied to Zen Buddhist practice and questions about meaning. Only God knows the heart. A family background, a public interest in religion, or a label in a profile cannot tell us whether someone trusts Jesus Christ.
What Christians can remember
The gospel is good news for every person. We are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus, not by fame, work, background, or public reputation (Ephesians 2:8–9). We can pray for Steve Jobs with kindness and let God be the Judge.
