The public evidence points to yes—Justin Bieber openly calls himself a follower of Jesus. He has described a personal belief in Christ, forgiveness, and grace. Still, we cannot see his heart. Only God knows whether any person’s faith is real.
What Justin Bieber has said about Jesus
In a 2020 Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, Justin spoke about his relationship with God and Jesus. He said he was not trying to earn God’s love by doing good things. He described Jesus as the One who met him in his brokenness and pulled him out.
That is more specific than saying he is merely spiritual. Justin has spoken about Jesus dying for his sins, God’s forgiveness, and his desire to follow Christ. In another interview, he said, “I believe Jesus died on a cross for my sins.”
Justin has also said that he does not want to force his beliefs on others. He wants to tell his story and let people consider it for themselves.
Justin Bieber’s Christian background
Justin Drew Bieber was born in Ontario, Canada, in 1994. His mother, Pattie Mallette, raised him with Christian beliefs. He spoke about prayer and Christianity even during his early years of fame.
As he grew older, Justin’s life became more troubled. He faced arrests, damaged relationships, substance use, and the pressure of worldwide fame. Later, he described his return to faith as central to rebuilding his life.
He has attended several well-known churches and has released music with clear Christian themes. Church attendance and Christian songs do not prove salvation, but his own words show that Christianity is not just a label placed on him by fans.
Does Justin Bieber’s past disprove his faith?
No person is made a Christian by having a clean public record. In fact, the Christian message begins with the truth that every person is a sinner.
At the same time, grace should never be used as an excuse for sin. A follower of Jesus should repent, seek change, and make things right when possible. We can look at public actions with wisdom, but we should not turn one headline into a final judgment about a person’s soul.

What the Bible says about being a Christian
A Christian is not simply a person who mentions God, grew up in church, or tries to be kind. The word Christian means a follower of Jesus Christ. The Bible says salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus—not a reward for fame, talent, charity, or religious habits (Ephesians 2:8–9).
That standard applies to Justin Bieber, and it applies to us. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God’s commands show us the truth about ourselves. Have we lied? Have we wanted what belonged to someone else? Have we used God’s name carelessly? Have we failed to love God first and love our neighbors as ourselves?
If we are honest, every one of us is guilty. Our good deeds cannot erase our sin. We need mercy.
The gospel, plain and clear
The word gospel means good news. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to save sinners. He lived the perfect life we have not lived. He died on the cross and took the punishment sinners deserve. Then He rose from the dead.
Romans 5:8 says that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Jesus offers forgiveness and eternal life to everyone who turns from sin and trusts in Him. Prayer does not save us, and perfect words do not save us. Jesus saves.
You do not need to become famous, clean up your whole life first, or earn God’s attention. Come to Christ honestly. Confess your sin, trust His death and resurrection, and follow Him. Then begin reading the Bible—John’s Gospel is a good place to start—and find a faithful local church that teaches God’s Word.
A better question for the reader
It is natural to wonder about Justin Bieber’s religion. But knowing a celebrity’s beliefs cannot make us right with God. The more important question is personal: Am I trusting in Jesus Christ?
We can speak about public figures with truth and kindness. We can pray for them and their families. We should not gossip, diagnose them, or pretend to see their hearts. God knows them fully, and He knows us too.
